Crossmember chop?

Been lurking and searching the crossmember chop posts and have a few unanswered questions.

1) What major snags are common to the process?
I have noted:
- Steering shaft interferes with upper a-arm. Appears to be pretty straightforward
- Tie rod end interferes with crossmember, is this both, or one side, and where?
- Any steering geometry issues that need to be worked out? Bump steer issues?

2) How is the cut made so as not to have to add filler material when reassembling?

3) What is being done in the back to even the stance? Blocks? Lower rear bag pressure than front? Both?

Anything else that I am not thinking of that I will be blindsided by?

1) I haven't done this so I can't help you there

2) The cut is 1 1/2" right? Use some 1 1/2" masking tape to trace your upper and lower cut lines. Just follow with the zip and you've got parallel cuts

3) If you're doing the front crossmember drop its usually to get the front closer to the ground. If you want to lower the back more you'll have to put in a fair sized notch

Yeah, with a straight peice of tape I figured that because of the irregular shape of the member that there will be gaps left. Just lookin' for hints to ease the process. Thanks for the reply.

Make sure you make nice cuts so that you dont have to add filler pieces later like I did.. The link above in is the best info I have found..
