About to do Serpentine swap. Have a few questions
Ok, I have the complete setup from a 1993 C1500 with a 5.7L. The only problem is, the only parts that are any good are the brackets because the donor vehicle was submerged by hurricane Katrina. Here is a list of the NEw parts I bought
New Tensioner and idler Compressor (For 93) Alternator (For 93) Water Pump (for 93) I'll deal with the wiring after I get it all put on Now here are my questions I have the A/C lines from the 93 will those work? Which dryer do I use? the one for My 84 or the one for a 93? Will my fan work with the reverse rotation water pump? Do I need to get a P/S pump too or will the one from my 84 work? The block/Heads is from a 97 pickup so there shouldn't be any bolting issues, I think. Also, if anyone wants to give some pointers they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Chris

Re: About to do Serpentine swap. Have a few questions
1. Lines might work, if not, use some from a 91 Sub.
2. Use the 84 dryer. 3. Your fan will not work. The 93 one might... 4. The 84 PS pump will work with the serp pulley. You might need the tank from the 93 to get the return line fitting pointed in the right direction. 5. Yep, heads will be fine. Did the donor truck have an air pump? If so, you can leave it off or get the pulley for the deleted air pump. I have the number somewhere if you want it. It's a pretty easy swap. I switched to electric fans and really like it that way.

Re: About to do Serpentine swap. Have a few questions
THought I would throw this out. I swapped a serpentine setup out of an 89 V6 into my 85 V8 and it was a straight bolt in. Like said before, you will need the correct fan.
But I wanted to replace the belt and went to Autozone. The serpentine system origianlly had the AIR pump which I wanted to delete. I was asked if I wanted the belt with AIR or without. SO I tried the shorter belt for no AIR and I easily deleted the AIR pump because the belt doesn't even go around the pulley. Then I disabled the AIR function in the PROM...
