Exclamation big block to saginaw 3 speed

how much needs to be done to bolt up a big block to a factory straight 6 3 speed tranny. can the smaller clutch handle a mild 454, if it will bolt up? I kinda doubt ill ever get around to doing this, with todays current gas prices, but i just want to know if i could if i had the chance.

bellhousing is probably different, along with the clutch you mentioned. Not sure if a big block clutch could be put on.

Re: big block to saginaw 3 speed

i think that all you have to do is have an 11'' clutch, flywheel and it'll all bolt up.bell housings are the same.unless you go from full bell to half a bell housing.thats the only diff i can think of.oh yeah make sure your clutch is course splined.

Re: big block to saginaw 3 speed

There is nothing different from the 3 speed bell to a 4 speed bell for a truck. I did this swap years ago, but I used a muncie M22 (passenger car trans.) and the 6 cyl bellhousing. I wouldn't recommend putting the 3 speed behind it though. If you do, I wouldn't abuse it much.
