Diesel Muffler Advice
Soon I'll be looking for two mufflers to replace my stockers on my '82 diesel. Does anyone have any advice for good sounding mufflers for a decent price? I want it loud. Clean, but loud. The system is true dual 2.5 inch piping. Stock (or pretty tame) mufflers. Don't think it came with cats since it's a diesel, although car makers have surprised me. Doesn't have any now. Stock motor. 4x4, although I don't think that matters much for just mufflers.

Do you have smog test where you live? Have heard that diesels benefit from NO mufflers....

Nope. Diesels get a whopping ten dollar inspection. They inspect stupid things...like lights and whatnot.

Re: Diesel Muffler Advice
A diesel without mufflers is really loud. Like obnoxiously loud. I think you will probably still hear the engine over the exhaust at idle even with straight pipes, though.

Re: Diesel Muffler Advice
A diesel with a turbo can get away without mufflres as the turbo will lessen the noise. An N/A engine with straight pipes is going to be too loud.
Checkout the Flowmaster 40 series.
