springs or spindles?

i was advised that i could use springs to drop my 68 3/5. i want to avoid using a drop spindel because i want to maintain my drum/drum set-up.when i started to order everything gmc paul said i may not be abel to properly allighn truck. what can i do? i dont want less then a 3/5 drop and cant swing a spindel-disc set-up now. any ideas? thanks every one.

Can you get your hands on a 72 front clip with the spindles/discs on them for cheap? Or is this not what you want to do? I say if you can't, go with the lowerer coil setup, or cut your existing coils. There are a few threads here on cutting coils I believe. Hope this helps

I have also heard fron 3" drop springs have alignment issues.

dont have time or good location for a clip swap. has anybody found a solution to using the 3 inch springs? what are the alignment issues? how severe are they? i am not looking for high speed cornering. i want the truck to handel and ride nice. springs are original wore out so i dont want to cut.

I think Paul told you "square up" on the springs, much more than 2 - 2 1/2" will cause problems. He!!, if you go 2 1/2" spindles, its only about a bill more than the springs.... you can chop a full ring off the bottom of the springs, & figure about 2 1/2" drop. If I do the math, that looks like 5 " on the front, but its a tad more pricey. You can keep the 6 lug wheels if you like, Paul has the rotors to fit Best of luck, L

This truck is my buddys and it has 3" drop springs in front. He claims it's aligned but I dont know if it is or not. I do know that his springs will fall over or out when he jscks up the front end. He is wanting to remove them and put in drop spindles.

It's probably completely shimless on the UCA's, or worse... maybe even shaved a little on the cross shafts.

okay so you guys favor spindles. now i still want 3/5 or more cool 4/6. i have drum/drum set-up that wont work. if i go disc, then i want to go power at same time. is ther a complete kit available or do i need to piece meal? this is starting to sound expensive.but i dont have time to piece it togather. any help on laying this out before i start would be a big plus. thank you

Buy the entire crossmember and attached suspension out from under a 73+ truck. It's a direct swap for what you've got. Add mc, booster, prop valve, and smaller brake line down to the tee in the driver's side frame channel, and you're all set.

You will also need ART decals.

They add oodles of "cool" to lowered vehicles.

I got my kit on sale for $599. It comes with the full drop spindle disc kit, back plates, ball joints, and tie rod ends. It's a 6 lug kit as well. I got my power booster off a 'Burb on Craigs List for $20 with the disc/drum valve still attached.

I decided to get bags because I wanted to be able to haul crap as well as lay low when I feel the need. It's a chunk of change for sure, but the end result is so worth it!
