Gas pedal is loose
Does anyone know what I need to get to fix my gas pedal linkage? The rod running from the gas pedal and through the firewall started wobbling around on my truck a few months ago. The rod running through the firewall is connected securely to the line running to the carb. linkage so I know that's not the problem. From what I can tell it is loose at the firewall. Is there a rubber bushing that helps to hold the gas pedal rod in place on the firewall and where can I get what I need to fix it?

Re: Gas pedal is loose
Make sure the 2 bolts are holding the thottle linkage securely to the firewall, if bolts are tight, the brass bushing are probably wore.
Also check the little bolt on the end of the shaft where the arm is under the hood, make sure it is fully seat on the shaft, it'll give it some play. Mine did this. For a replacement I believe this is a wrecking yard only part. You might be able to take the housing (that mounts to the firewall) minus the arm & shaft to the hardware store, and try to match it up. If you do go to the wrecking yard, make sure you get the throttle off the specific truck that has the same type of engine inline 6 truck, or a V8 truck. The arm is bent a little different. David
