Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

So I'm assuming I can't make a 4 core work with my stock brackets? I could have gotten a brand new 4 core for a little over 2 bills today but passed it up because I didn't think my brackets would hold it.

Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

depends on what was there stock.

Do this: go to junkyard, find a 454'd truck, pull it's radiator, go to parts store, and tell them to "find this" in their store room. Give them half an hour or it's free.

Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

yes, i did see that post.

take a 4 core from the JY, stick it in there. if it fits, take it to the store and ask for a direct replacement. If not, then the brackets are likely 3 row.

Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

definatly 3 cor brackets 2 or 3 core. the last pic are the brackets on my 84 which are holding in a 3 core hd with ac camaro rad. the last two is the 2 row that was in my old 1985. see they are in orange. you will need the other bracket to run the 4 row.

Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

There are two different radiator sizes, when dealing with the core support. Some are not as tall as the others. There are two different styles of brackets. You have the ones for the taller radiator, without a doubt. I went to a local radiator shop and purchased one many years ago and had no trouble getting the right size and core thickness. Since then I upgraded to an aluminum radiator and electric fans.

Re: Post pics of your radiator please!

None of those brackets look anything like my 73's, except the one pictured in prerunners post, mines just not as tall, it kind of curves down from the top to the radiator. I may have to scrounge up a 4 core top bracket when I swap to the four core from the 3 core in it now. It has a 350 with AC and auto trans.
