My brown 69 trailer has a similar situation. The po cut the top of the loop off the u bolt and just welded what was left to the perches.

Plus the idiot took off the nut and washer that holds on the yoke on the ho52/72 axle. From what I have heard is near imposible to get off! Some po's! Aaron
