Help

need to know how to disconnect speedo cable on 88 burb.dash lites are out need to replace them.have it all unbolted but can't get the dash out because of speedo cable.on my 70 it has like a round nut [easy to remove] but don't know bout burb.was told that you need a pair of speacil plyers. any help would be greatly appreaciated.

Never dealt with an '88 but on my '87 truck there is a "spring clip" for lack or a better term.
IIRC, you will feel it around the base of the cable where it goes into the back of the dash. I think you pull the lip towards you and you should be able to then pull the cable/housing out.
To put it back in you just push it in and the clip will snap back on.

yeah, it should be a spring clip...another way to get to it is to snake your hand up from under the dash....another one of GM's dumb ideas

this doesn't really help you but i was able to get it out on my '89 without any special tools (although unfortunately I can't remember how I did it). but the only reason I posted this was just to let you know that it can be removed w/o special tools...

i got around to changing the lites in my dash on the burb i bought[pics soon].but anyway theres a spring loaded clip that you just push toward the back side of dash and pull out the speedo.also i need help on dash lite's there were 8 burned out bulbs so i replaced all 10 of them it's bright now but not as bright as i was expecting.[replaced the 168's with 194's,but it's not as bright as i would like.any body help me with this?
