pics of buildup..elcamino style
I know it's not a real truck, but just wanted to post some pics of my Dad's 79 El Camino buildup.
He's bushwacked my brother into doing all the actual work, like assembly, parts chaser, I don't think he has even turned a wrench on this one yet...He has a persuasive way about him sometimes... ANyway, 79 elcamino, 350, th350, he is getting the body blasted soon, then start on the body work. I have been trying to talk him into a torq thrust type wheel, who knows..It's his baby... |

Re: pics of buildup..elcamino style
tha t elky is *****in! gonna send him a pic of that,
he has not totally decided on color, he's thinking a candy brandywine, which I think has been done to death.... He's kind of at a stand still this month, just bought a huge compressor. Hopefully my brother will have time to blast my 91 burb core support before he brings it to me after xmas My brother can't wait to get the elky done so he can start on his 69 ford f100. |

Re: pics of buildup..elcamino style
First of all Elcaminos are real trucks! I tell people if it has a bed it's a truck!
I had a '79 Elcamino i was the 2nd owner my buddys dad bought it new but the 305/metric tranny were dead when i got it so i put a 350/350 in it that truck ran nice my x wife loved that truck i had to sell it when my daughter was born. That looks like it will be a fine lookin, running ride when it's finished. Heres mine i was ckecking out the fresh Eng/tranny combo. This pic was after i just painted it |

Don't get me wrong, I like El Caminos and love what I have seen posted in this thread. I just don't think anything that has a bed is a "real truck"....

Re: pics of buildup..elcamino style
Well you have a good point Ken but i said El Caminos are real trucks! and anything with a bed is a truck i didn't specify Real or otherwise.
I would have to agree with you that there not a real truck! what do they rate them @ 1/3 or 1/4 Ton But if you look at the registration of any of them vehicles you have there i'll bet it's classified as a truck! My finacee telles me all the time that my Tahoe isn't a truck she calles it a station wagon but thats not what the state of Fl. put on my registration.. |

Re: pics of buildup..elcamino style
That pulley system looks like Billet Specialties or Concept One systems. Looks like it's gonna be a nice ride. Here is a pic of my dad's 83 SS. This was my first car/truck. It has a Jasper 355 RV/TH350/3.73 posi. The videos link in my sig has a video of it doing a burnout. i think it's the third one.

Re: pics of buildup..elcamino style
You guys got some sweet elky's heres my old one of course it's a tad bit older and stock. No the wheels were on it for painting not for looks. It sucked to have to sell this car there wasnet a flaw anywhere in the body.
