Fixed a thorn in my 4x4.......
I don't know if it my NP205 is the only one out there like this, but it shifted harder than all get out, and took nearly two hands to pop it into 4-lo. Today while I put new calipers and hoses on it(Had one hose with an internal collapse so I put everything new on in the front)..........I investigated the shifter. I looked at it while everything was off the truck and it looked ok, but I failed to notice that the mounting bolt was seized to the shifter, so after a hours worth of heating with the torch, my brother inside the truck moving the shifter, and me with the breaker bar underneith we got it loose. I got to looking at it, and I made an improvement..........I drilled and tapped a hole for a grease fitting. Put it back together and it shifts awesome, just touch it and it drops into 4-hi, push it ahead with one finger into 2-Hi and 4-Lo.
Why didn't GM put a grease fitting on it? The bolt was machined with a relief for one? Anyhow, she is fixed for good(I am known to OVER lubricate ![]()
