77 > 86 GMC pw/pl swap?

Hi

I acquired a 77 GMC sierra classic with power locks and windows(along with tilt,a/c,rallys,and a 454)But the body is less then desireable to say the least(lwb and rusty).....My question is i can get an 86 swb GMC with a 305,4spd and power nothing(base line truck with rallys on it?) for and was wondering if i could swap the power windows/locks over to the 86 with no problems or am i need tons of wire splicing or wire harness swapping to do so?If i can i would like to swap the tilt and a/c over as well in the future.

Any help and previous experience would be great!!

Thanks

I havent done this before but i do know that the door panels from a 77 to and 86 changed and im not sure if there the same, i want to say they are and the only thing that changed is the panel itself. I also know that if you dont previously have PW or PL you will need to take the wiring out also and put it in the 86.

Thanks 87 GMC

The 86 does not have power windows or locks at this time,I was hoping(more like in denial)that i could avoid pulling the wiring harness from the cab to accomplish it.I quess ill just have to wait till spring to have the goodies from the 77 onto my 86.

Thanks

Everything should swap

Everything should swap over to the 86,with out much trouble. Take your time , mark the wires with tape etc. for windows/locks, when you remove. You think you are going to remember everything, but just good practice. Remove and replace or swap as the case may be. Should be a great truck when your done with all those options and a big block. One other piece of advice, don't get rid of the parts truck until you have every last piece, nut and bolt , wire , brackets, anything you need for your swap until your done if possible. Put stuff in ziplock bags and mark them. Take pictures if you have to, makes things easier down the road. And buy a GMC service manual for 86, there cheap on ebay.
