Trailing arm bushings
I have a 67 C10 that I have tore down to the frame. I tried to knock the trailing arm bushings out of the trailing arms but they will not budge.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Hurdy |

Re: Trailing arm bushings
You are going to have to take them to a machine shop and have them pressed out and the new ones pressed in(just had this done myself). GM still sells the trailing arm bushings.

Re: Trailing arm bushings
If you torch out the rubber part you can install the poly ones in your old steel sleeve because the poly ones use your existing sleeve. This way you can do it yourself. Otherwise like Byrd said they do need to be pressed out.

Re: Trailing arm bushings
I did mine with a big ass hammer and a socket ... and I am a machinist & have access to a press ... go figure.

Re: Trailing arm bushings
I just replaced mine this weekend. Easiest way to do it yourself it to drill a bunch of small holes through the rubber and then pop the whole thing out with a hammer and large punch. Just make sure not to hit your outer sleeve. I then greased up the new bushings and used a C clamp to press them in. Worked great!
