Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
Yes and no. And you do mean 1/2 ton right? 3/4 ton is 8 lug. Bolt pattern the same but the center hole in the wheels is a smaller diametter than ours. You either have to machine the hole larger or pullyour axles and hubs and have them machined down. Sorry.

Ok, well they are only like 6" wide so not sure how retarded back spacing could look. And yes Its a Half ton 6 lug. I was just Thinking some of these wheels off Ebay New Pull Offs Might be Neat,Getting centers machined would be no biggee.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
the main problem i ran into was the flat style center cap would not fit back on. it hit the bearing hubs on the front. after using the right adapters i was happy with the look and backspace. in my case machining the senters was a waste, but i was using a tahoe wheel with flat center cap.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
I bolted a set of 15x8 truck rallys to my Escalade. It looked kinda neat, but they stuck out about a half inch, and the fronts would not clear the calipers. The bolt pattern is the same, but there are backspacing issues, and the newer wheels do have a smaller center hole.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
a buddy of mine put a set on his 68 chevy 1/2 ton 2wd, he had adapters custom made and they look pretty good but it cost way too much money. next time i see him, i'll shoot some pics.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
If somebody has done this, please post up some pics! I'm thinking these Yukon wheels wouldn't look bad (with the right spacers) as a interim wheel till I can afford the ones I really want.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
I was looking at 17" Escalade wheels and still might get them. The issue is the back spacing. The "good" wheel spacers are $80 a pair + shipping, so the $150 set of wheels ends up being more like $350 and it's no longer such a good deal.
I have been told two different sizes. Some say 2" spacers front and rear, some say 2" rear, 1.5" front. I think with the disc brake upgrade on my truck adds an inch overall to the front, so the 2"/1.5" setup would be best. BTW, those wheels look great and would be cool for sure. |

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
look at my post "posting pics help" you will see the 20 inch wheels on a 68. the rear requires a 2" spacer. the pic shows the front with a 1 1/4" spacer. that spacer will not be needed when i change to disc brakes. main reason for front spacer is the bearing hub sticks out to far for center cap to clear. when i go disc i dont know what to expect with the hub. if it sticks out to far i have an idea to modify the center caps and still look clean. bottom line is these whees will work. trucks after 68 have a wider reaend so less spacing if any will be required. one thing people should keep in mind is the 07 gm trucks have a differant backspace then the 06 and down. ir you run with no spacers you will have to machine the centers of the rim to a larger size. about 50 bucks. one last thing if you do this dont use "spacers" use 6 lug to 6 lug adapters. look at the front end of a gm dually yhey have adapters from the factory.

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
pkj,
What size tire are you running? If I was going to run these rims on a 1970 swb truck, do I need the front spacer? Your truck looks good! |

Re: Late Model GMC -CHEVY WHeels
the tire is about 31 1/2" tall. its a 275-55-20. this tire is a lot taller then most people run. i happen to like a tall tire as it fills the wheel well nicely front to rear. i had the wheels on without spacers, looked okay. problem was the center caps are concave and would hit the grease cap. when i go to disk brakes i know the wheel will move outboard 1 inch. i dont know if the center cap will hit that grease cap. if it does i have away to modify the center cap.
remember if you dont use spacers you will have to machine the wheel bore out. pkj |
