actually if I remember right..... BellTech's are really about a 2.75" drop they only call it a 3". But IMHO I think BellTech makes some of the best spindles on the market.

Re: 3" beltech vs. 2.5" other drop spindles?
I have 2 lowered trucks, both w/the long used 1964 ~ 87 unequal length a-arm style front suspension.
My 68 has 2.5" Western Chassis spindles, 1-coil trimmed from stock 6cyl coils, 1 1/16 73-up sway bar, & Gabriel HD gas shocks. My 74 has 3" Bell Tech spindles, 1-coil trimmed from stock sbc/V8 coil springs, 1 1/4" HD sway bar, & HD Gabriel gas shocks. I fully expected my 74 to be lower than my 68 because of the extra drop @ the spindle & the V8 w/full accessories. Much to my suprise, the 68 is lower & actually buzzes the fenderwells less (larger front wheelwells). As long as they're from a reputable company, both work well w/little difference. Go w/the one that has the closest pkg or kit that fits your needs or the best price for your budget. The big thing is that 3" spindles are more prone to have 'clearance' issues w/15" wheels having extra back spacing so keep that in mind.

i'd say forget about the ssd kit for the top and just use cups like you would on an s10 and cut the spring pocket where needed. you won't lay out without cutting down the lower cup w/ the ssd kit b/c the slams are like 2.86" fully compressed. with that you will lay but you might have to do some tubbing depending on the size tire.

I was running 20x9.5 rims and I came no where close to fenders when it was dropped. I removed the inner fenders and I was good. Now my a-arms were a different issue but nothing a welder and torch could not fix.

This is 3" DJM with ART plates and cups on stock A-arms. No clearence problems on the outer fender. It's has shop built stops on it, or it would rest on the fender liners....
