Re: headers for 454 into 63
Harry, headers for a 67-72 w/big block should work, the chassis are pretty much the same. Be sure to specify for a manual transmission.
I used chevelle/camaro shorty headers on my 65 with a small block and automatic, had to modify the motor mount stand a little.

Re: headers for 454 into 63
I used some from Sanderson. Don't remember which model, but they are supposed to be specifically for this application. They are long tubes, so they hang below the frame some. I am going to go with block huggers next time for ground clearance. The headers are well made, but Sanderson was a pain to deal with. The headers would not clear my mini starter, so they had to grind the flange, where it bolts to the head, in order to kick it out away from the starter. By the way, I am using a turbo 350, so not sure abouth manual fit. I had to notch the engine stands for clearance though.

No problem Harry, and yes, 67-72 chevy and GMC pickups had mechanical clutch linkage. Your truck's looking good by the way, and you're gonna love that big block.

Re: headers for 454 into 63
The 67-72 trucks have their clutch bell crank located farther back than the 60-66 trucks. I would say that you'll need to use some block hugger headers to be able to use your stock clutch linkage. You still may have to modify it a little. When I installed a 454 in my 66 suburban, I used 73-87 headers, but I had to trim the frame to replicate the 73-87 frame, I am running a T400 also so the clutch linkage wasn't an issue. Check with Hedman Hedders for some BB block huggers, I believe they make some.
