I'd second the electric fan install, if your still having problem with just cutting the shroud.
Having a shroud period makes a huge difference, don't pull it off just for clearance sake.

I found an elec fan that fits into our factory shroud, made it a 2-speed and haven't had an issue yet.
Not a big block but it is a 383 stroker that no doubt makes more heat the a stock 350.
