Would this be a good deal?
While my wifey and I were driving back from looking at a house, I noticed a 72 3/4 ton 4x4 sitting by the side of the road w/ 4 sale sign. I told (begged)

It's really hard to tell without a picture. I would check the frame out really close. Look at the frame around the steering box and check the motor mounts as good as you can. When a vehicle is hit in the front like that sometimes it will pull the motor mount pads apart. Just a couple of things to check. I really can't help you on the monetary part. I'm not up to speed on the 4x4's. LockDoc

Re: Would this be a good deal?
Thanks for the info. I was planning on going back down there this weekend to look, but got caught up working on the father in laws new dump truck. I still want to get back to see it. I'll try to get some pics.

Re: Would this be a good deal?
I don`t think it`s alot of money.But,I`d try for less.I`d try for $1,800.Might end up at $2,000 that way,might save $400.

Re: Would this be a good deal?
Sounds like a good deal but I would try lower and see how it goes.Oh,and the rear axle isnt original. The 67-72s didnt have 14 bolt rear axles stock.Just so ya know

Re: Would this be a good deal?
Jason,I thought the same and didn`t ask.Was it the perfectly round differential cover? That would be original and it`s the corporate rear, otherwise known as the Eaton HO52.Some had a Dana60.
I wonder,if it really has the 14-bolt if the rear was swapped or if it`s a later drivetrain or sitting on a later 4wd frame.Watch for this...Are the rear shocks stagered, one toward front and one toward rear?Do the bodt mounts look unaltered? Are the lock-out hubs large diameter, about the same as whole in wheel? The serial number will start with a CK if it`s an original`72 4wd,CC if`72 2wd,K if`71-earlier 4wd,and C if`71-earlier 2wd.The next digit would be E for V8 or S for I6.The next will be 2 if it was originally 3/4t(20 series).
