about to put front end together need spring drop advise
Here my frame off project that I am working on right now,
71 C10, 454 BB /400trans, 2wd stepside Here is my general goal to try first Drop rear 5 inch and front 3 1/2 to 4 with maintaining a comfortable, nice ride down the road For the rear I now have put a set if 5 in drop coils For the front I have 2 1/2 drop spindles and this is my question?????? To achieve my general goal which would work better, I have a stock set of BB coils from a 3/4 ton and I also have a stock set C10 coils from a 6cyl What set would work best for my achieving another 1 to 1 1/2 inch drop on the front, I am willing to cut a ful coil off but wanted to know first which would work best first before I prep and paint to put back together, any infor that would help would be appreciated.......... Thanks, Rich |

well bud your best bet will be to use the bb coils cut 1 coil at a time and test fit they will also settle so take that into account that bb will smash those 6 cly springs flat . and we need before an after pics

I think cutting 1 coil will yield 2-3" of drop. If you only want 3.5-4" total front drop you may want to start by cutting 1/2 a coil. And I second the pic request.

Re: about to put front end together need spring drop advise
I couldnt wait yesterday and wanted to clean up and prep the springs so I could paint them, I had decided to start with the 6cyl springs.
Well I did a search on here and found some old thoughts of a 6cyl spring with no cutting would yeild 1 1/2 to 2 inch but did not see any comments on the ride quality, anyone know??? So I spent 1hr yesterday sanding the surface rust of the springs and painted them with eastwood frame paint, Can anyone confirmed how these will ride with the BB in there, As far a pics, I will need to learn how to post, I have plenty of pic of the start of this frame off restore Royo what springs did you cut, That is my desired stance, about like you have |
