Flywheel issues

OK my truck is a 1986 when i look for a flywhell it trys to give me one for a 700r4. I went to gm to buy one when i built the truck funny thing is looks just like the one autozone has but it for a 700r4. So that leads me to think gm sold me a flywheel for a 700r4 tranny not a th350.

Reason im having this problem the trucks motor is an 1989 so the circle on the back of the crank is smaller then that of a 85 down. I need a flywheel for that engine and tranny combo but i cant seem to find it. Any one know where i can get a flywheel for this problem.

(when i installed the one from gm the flywheel lasted o 3 months the teeth started to break and the truck would shack when in gear and at a stop light. Id say because of the wieght on the flywheel, and the wieght on the coverter are fin each other up causin shackin.

some one help me out i need it to work. And gm going to hear a bit to

i'd call a transmission shop in your area.they'll give you the numbers for the right one.

Re: Flywheel issues

Make sure your asking for a flexplate and not a flywheel too, thats gonna cause some parts people some problems when your trying to order it. I know it sounds silly, but its true.

Re: Flywheel issues

why are you telling them its for a th350 or 700r4 or anything at all? it has nothing to do with what tranny [other than auto or manual], it has everything to do with your motor. tell them you need a dual pattern[ large and small circle for tourque converter] for your specific motor, a 305 is not the same as the 350.

Re: Flywheel issues

Is your flex plate 14" or 12 3/4"?
14" 1 piece rear seal flex plate can come in dual pattern 10 3/4" and 11 1/2" pattern. SBC internal balanced any size except 400(external balanced). I think GM part#14088761
12 3/4" 1 piece rear seal flex plate have a 10 3/4" pattern.
Check your torque converter size will determine the flex plate compatibility.
Note: if you have a high stall TC you might have to go aftermarket flex plate, As it could be flexing the stock flex plate to much.

Re: Flywheel issues
