67-72 Flowtech Headers
AVOID. I purchased a set of these for $105 from Summit Racing as a "cheap" pair of headers. They come very complete with collectors, gaskets and all the nuts and bolts.
The "quality" of these headers is extremely poor. The flanges are NOT flat - I took a file to mine just to try to get them close. The welds suck, and event the paint on the tubes is pretty spotty - I know it wouldn't be on there long anyway...but still I went to put them on today and had significant interference with the motor mounts. It would have taken 1/4"+ of "clearancing" (i.e., beating a dent in" the front pipe to make them fit. You can see from the picture posted on the link below the difference in the first pipe between the Flowtech and Hooker headers. http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...13#post2017213 Bottom line: IMHO, they don't fit and aren't worth even the low price. Note that others have had good experiences with them, so this may just be a clearance issue with my particular truck. Last edited by Billla; 02-04-2007 at 08:45 PM. |

Re: 67-72 Flowtech Headers
I agree, I put a set on my old '67 and there was a leak I couldn't find for days. Come to find out there was a fairly good size pinhole where the tube meets the flange on the underside of the tube.

Re: 67-72 Flowtech Headers
As long as the companies that have been building headers since the early days are still making them,I see no need to "try" the newbies.I know that`s not alwaysthe best thinking. But,I`ve never had a complaint about my Headmans,Hookers,or others.Headman even makes a "cheap" header for those lower priced needs.

Hedmans are the best that fit our trucks.

Re: 67-72 Flowtech Headers
I just finished installing the Hookers and I'd say the fit was outstanding across the board. No issues with clearances; ground clearance, starter clearance, etc. was excellent. I did need to adjust the hard brake line on the passenger side. I'll be posting a review of these with pics, but I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Hookers from my personal experince - would love to see photos of the Hedmans installed as well.

Re: 67-72 Flowtech Headers
Yes, I have heard that Hooker also fit our trucks well. I purchased a set of Hedmans for my truck and they fit well. I did need to adjust the passengers side brake line as well, but I had also installed aftermarket stainless brake lines.
