Poll: Should I do it?
I'm sick of looking at my rusty K20. While I have collected a nice cab, box, doors, fenders... everything sheetmetal needed to get it into shape, I don't have a garage to do it in. Bare metal & bodywork isn't very easily done outside. And I don't have a welder or compressor. I would love to run out & buy both, but storing them in my muddy wet storage shed isn't something I'm willing to do. I bought this C20 with this in mind, or possibly for my son's daily driver. But, after looking over the lousy cab structure (or lack theirof), and finding out that it will soon need a valve job (2 exhaust valves are starting to sink) I can't see spending the money on it for a daily driver. 2 winters and the cab would be trash. If I use the body on the K20, it won't see a few thousand miles a year, and no winter driving. I plan on welding in cab supports & sealing everything up as best I can. The doors still close good, so nothing has settled- yet.

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
Well,if the 2wd didnt need motor work,I would say keep it together.Since the 2wd needs work I say throw it on the K20 chassis. If you are done beating on the 4wd,then definitely put on the 2wd body. What's the plans for the 4wd?

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
I want to get rid of the 36" hummer tires, put 33" on the turbins, or 255/85/16's on the 88- up rallys I have. Then use it to enjoy again just driving around, maybe play a little at truck pulls. It's been a self- propelled lawn ornament for way too long.

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
The '69 grille is new- it will be for sale if I swap bodies. Or trade for a new or very nice '72 grille. That will be a "parting out" thread if it happens.

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
i say drive them both. you can keep these trucks running and safe forever for very little money if you just give them what they need instead of trying to make them somthing there not.

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
Dude I've done many body swaps over years because I like to. BUT if you don't have the place to do it just fix them as they are and save the head aches.Rob

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
I have 1.5 acres of grass, and a neighbor with a backhoe/ loader. So swapping it all will be easy. I don't even plan on taking the front clip off the good body. A heavy plank thru the door windows, slinged with a tree hugger strap & a trailer tiedown ratchet strap to the hood latch will give triangulation for a level lift. I too have done a few

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
For some reason iv always really liked your truck just the way it is mabe becuse red is my favorite color. it will look even sharper with the swap. I have a wire feed welder if you need to weld in supports your more than welcome to use it and i could even help some.

Re: Poll: Should I do it?
Ed, I think these two trucks are actually the same color! The '72 is just faded that bad. Looking at paint inside the cabs where it's not faded- appears to be the same. '69 SPID says 4514AA- red. '72 says 514- med. red. Thanks for offering the welder & help. I plan on doing the structure work after it is road- worthy, that way I can drive it to a welder, instead of bringing a welder to it.
Have you thought about going to the meet? It would be GREAT to have you along! I'm thinking of heading down Saturday am, and returning late Sunday afternoon. If I would get off my butt & get to work on this, maybe I could drive it there. Dunno- lots of work to be done! And I need to make up my mind if I want new 33/12.50/16.5's on the turbins, or maybe 255/85/16's (had that size on it years ago) on the set of '88- up rallys I have.

I'm doing it!
Well, I'm commited now! I'm about 4-1/2 hours into it so far. All I have left to get the cab off is pull the shifter & fuel line. What the heck can I do with the rusted wiper motor opening? The wiper motor is floppy like it is ready to fall out. Now I know why it is slow & noisy
