Exclamation 79' TO 92' Body Swap

Howdy all!!!
I have a badly rusted 79' C10 LWB 4WD. I have access to a cheap ($500) 92' 1500 Extra Cab w/complete interior & Short Bed.
Can I put this body on my LWB 79'?

I saw in the Faq that similar swaps had been made for the 67' to 72' trucks, but nothing for my swap. Most people where I live tell me to just stick my motor in the newer truck, but I want to keep the solid front axle, and the 79' has been in the family since new, but I need more cab room and I can't justify the cost of having 2 trucks.
Thanks for any assistance.

Re: 79' TO 92' Body Swap

I guess anything is possible with enough time, duct tape and bailing wire ------- just slip a rebuilt 350 in that 92 and back burner your 79 until you have the funds to rock and roll the right way

But but --- it depends on how rusted your 79 cab is ---- you can replace fenders and bedsides both for abou 1-1200 and run tht thing around in primer if you are a areful salvage yard negotiator

Re: 79' TO 92' Body Swap

First off you will have to lengthen the wheelbase of the frame since an extended cab short bed has a longer wheelbase than a regular cab longbed.

Honestly I think it would just be easier to get a 88-98 Z71 and do a solid front axle conversion if you must have it. It would be a whole lot less work. Plenty of people have done it too.

Get a new truck for your daily driver and keep your old one intact to restore.
