Anyone looking for a burb project?
I have this 72 burb I picked up recently that I thought I would offer it up to board members first before trying someplace else (not eBay).
First off I would prefer to sell this to someone that can come check it out personally or have someone check it out for them to avoid having to post a zillion pics. I do not want to deal with shipping this thing. The pictures make it look much better than it is. 1972 burb. Big block. Automatic. Front and rear air, all there but not hooked up. No idea if it works. No tilt. Previous owner had a little dog that did a job on the seats and dash pad. New radiator. Runs and drives fine. Its licensed and insured. It has usual burb rust issues, but not nearly as bad as alot of em I looked at. Front passenger door is fubared. The head liner is in nice shape and all there. It comes with a half ton parts burb that I was going to use the suspension (convert if from 3/4 to 1/2 ton) and the front passenger side door. There is other stuff there that you could probably sell off to help recoup some of your monies. I also have a much better gate and a nice 68 front clip for it. So far I'm into this project $2620.00 with everything I have listed here. I will let it all go for $2100.00. It's a package deal or nothing at all (no parting). If you're interested post here or pm me and we can arrange a time for you to come check this "beauty" out. |

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
Ive never taken it on a long trip. I bought it to pull my car trailer. The fella I bought it from said the original owner used to pull a camper all over the place with it. If your serious I would contact someone like Billa to come over and check it out for you ( I understand hes a very good engine and drivetrain guy, I'm not) plus we live in the same town.

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
I'm drooling here.... let me sleep on this. I shouldn't...I really shouldn't... but I have always wanted a 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive burb. The 3/4 ton stuff could update the longhorn to disks up front, and it probably had 3.54 gears, so i could use the guts from that rear in my leaf spring dana and have better gears in the longhorn too...
hmmmmm 2500 miles, that's a good road trip. I'm showing interest... but don't put me in line. |

The extra nicer gate and 68 front clip any chance those items would be seperate from the package deal? Very interested in them.

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
Nicely equipped Sub! That dual air was only available in 71-2 and much nicer & cleaner than the earlier "tunnel roof" style.
It is just a little too nice for me to part out (hiss, boo, grrrr), but oh so tempting! |

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
I know it is a great deal... even after the cost of a flight, road trip, financing (this would be done with a loan) I would STILL come out ahead in my rusty ass environment.

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
what is the usual burb rust? How is the cab floor, rockers and kick panels? Does it have a steel floor in the back?

Re: Anyone looking for a burb project?
I REALLY REALLY REALLY want whomever decides this is a burb they want to purchase to please check it out in person. If you cant check it out in person please get a local board member (not myself) to come take a look at it. Remember the pics make it look better than it really is. Andy I would feel more than terrible if you came out to drive this thing home and something bad happens to it. I have no problem bombing around in it here since Im never that far from home. Im not out to screw anyone, but like we all know, you could hop in an old truck like this and have it go T U backing out the driveway or it could run just fine for years
Dave take an short road trip up here to Monroe if your curious about this burb. All burbs (67-72) have wood floors in the rear. Last edited by CG; 08-21-2007 at 02:13 AM. |

Andy, do it man!
Take out a loan with "fluff" for a breakdown and you know there are many members along the way that would be more than willing to help you out!

Dave just let me know when. If I cant be here I can leave it open. I will let the neighbors know too. We all keep an eye on each others places, and some of em are a little quick to call johnny law...lol. Of course Andy has first shot if he wants to work something out. Mark |
