What did you get done? 08/26
I actually did a few truck related things again this week. I scored some more NOS 73-80 side molding. I have almost every piece to do a complete SWB truck now along with most pieces for a Blazer as well.
I have been waiting almost 2 months to hook up with a guy to buy a front clip. He has been out of town on a job, then gone to a wedding, etc. This weekend we were set to go on Saturday and he got called in to work. We said Sunday we would hook up for sure. I called him all day today and he wouldn't answer his phone...B@stard. I called another lead I had on a core support from an old buddy of mine. He swore he had a "rust free" core support. I called to make sure he was home and drove an hour and a half to go pick it up. Look at the pics and you can see we have a difference in opinion on exactly what "rust free" really is. I did score a few parts that I can use for mock up, and salvage a part or piece off of. What did you get done?

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
Um I gotta agree that looks kinda rusty. I washed the camaro today and tinkered around with some minor stuff on it for awhile. Went and had dinner with my bro and my dad last nite. Did some chores around the house. Getting ready to start the work week!

I replaced my fuel line. I really need to get a hard line on it. A PO cut the hard line and replaced it with rubber hose. Every one I find at the junkyards is the same way, too.

I'm still feeling Saturday night but I did manage to put gas in the truck. Now if I could just manage to get some other equipment running as good as the truck I'd be golden

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
Put about 500 miles on the truck...
Drove to work on Friday since my DD 'vette blew out two rear tires (burnouts, my fault). Then on Saturday, detailed the truck and drove it to a show where I met Frank (7T7) and had a good time. On Sunday, I drove about 400 miles in the truck to pick up a rim/tire package for the 'vette from a guy in Abilene, then installed them to get my DD back up and running. Of course, this put 8 million bugs on my truck, so it was time for yet another detailing... And all weekend long I had and continue to have a huge mental battle over whether to mod my truck or not...

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
well...I started off sleeping from 9 am until 1630...then me and my friend joey (co leader of my club, DarkSlide Customs), went to chic-fil-a and had some food...after that we went out to aviation square, the cops apparently shut that place down, cuz there wasnt any other cars there with us other than the HCC (Honda Club of Charleston), so we all rolled out before the cops came over and gave us all tickets.
Prior to leaving, some crazy guy pulled up in a mini cooper S and was infatuated with my truck (it was great, major esteem builder). we all wound up just goofin off at the strip mall on ashley phosphate...I think the car scene here has bout completely died...sad. after all that, I went to work and fixededed me sum planez

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
We''l got the engine and trans and all the crap pulled off the '51 Chevy truck I bought a while back, wasn't great amounts of fun but I had a good time and it took about an hour. Found some patch panels below the mat, kinda figured they were there. Oh well already got new patch panels.
I also stumbled upon a '69 CST that I quickly beat on the door for only to find out it belonged to her son. SHe took my number and said she would have him call me but no suck luck. She said he'd probably sell it. Anyway If anyone wants anything off a 216 or whatever this thing is, they can have it if they will pay for shipping.

It looks like we will not be having anymore rain for a while, so I was finally able to wash my truck. Good thing too, cause it was killing me to see her like that. Other than that, nothing really, just out with the family. |

yard work, and pressure washing the porches, sidewalk and driveway.
Cleaned up the garage a little bit. Nothing special. Did watch the UFC fight.

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
will do, i am gonna go look at a 76 tomorrow, or the next day, and the only reason i am buying it is for the drivetrain, he said the truck was pretty much rust free, but as you have been told, we will see

Yeah, it seems that everyone has their own idea of what "rust free" really is....

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
This weekend a buddy from out of town came to visit, and I put him to work. Last time I worked on removing the truck bed, I had 4 of the bed bolts spin. I cut a slot into them, and used a large slotted ratchet attachment. That got 1 of them free, but the metal was too soft and the slotted attachment slipped on the next couple, so I had to drill them out.
Now I need 3 friends to help me get the bed off the truck so I can start the gas tank swap. I'm also planning to replace all of the brake lines on the truck, and perhaps the fuel lines also. Last night I also put a "NOT FOR SALE" sign in the truck because I'm sick of people stopping and offering me money for the truck. One of these days it would happen when I'm not home and my wife would sell it. |

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
Yes and no... I'd love to bag it, 19" Torq Thrust Rims with gloss black centers and chrome lips, put the sport mirrors on, and a chrome sport bumper in the back...
But the mirrors would require some filling on the doors and I don't want to mess with that, and I don't want to cut or drill or anything that would hurt the originality of it. And then I see how original it is and it's just so dorky 1978 that it's cool... so I'm happy leaving it as is... and yet... with a drop...

Re: What did you get done? 08/26
Well I don't usually get any work done over the weekend since it is the only time that myself and the fiance are off at the same time. But Monday after work I went and paid for a complete LWB frame at a wrecking yard about a mile up the road and they dropped it off for free.
I bought this truck for 600$ and then was thinking of replacing the frame, but now it looks like I am going to build a completely different truck with a southern rust free body and use this truck as a parts truck when the time comes. Go from no truck to a beater truck to a beater truck AND project truck. Damn this is addicting, lol.
