Re: Has anyone done this mod to a lower control arm?
They key to making the pocket is not to make it any lower than the lowest point of the stock a-arm. Then, there will be no clearance issues.

man thats true .But the drop pocket still hits every thing in the road with springs and 15 " tires , I understand what frizzle means , they just hang to low on these 63-72 trucks

That's no lie!!!!
This might be something I do to another set of LCA's just to play with. I don't plan on keeping the 15's on for much longer once it's painted. They will just be too plain-jane for the paint job. I will go with either 17's all around, or 17's front and 18's rear.

Re: Has anyone done this mod to a lower control arm?
Ok guys
On mine I went with a 3" deep pocket (8" pipe) which is 1 inch lower than stock, on the A-arm With the 8" pipe my A-arms at dump touch at the bushing area & at the edge of the pipe So unless you go smaller pipe (if you're gonna use springs) you couldn't really drop the cup anymore than 1" If I were to run springs & want 2-3 inch drop, I would either get drop spindles or cut my springs And if you want your A-arms to be basically level @ ride height, then I would just cap over the top of the A-arm & bolt my bag there (Same thing as running a spacer cup) Because when my truck is aired up all the way my A-arms aren't level So to me if you want that extra 3" drop, get spindles & save your tires But if you Z your frame, thats a whole nother story |
