66 rolling again
I don't know if I shared with you all, but my 66 had a loud clanking noise in first since I got her. The noise was getting worse and the tranny started slamming from 1st last week.
Thursday, I picked up another 3 speed from a guy on Craigslist about 50 miles away. I paid $30 for it. There was some moisture inside, but nothing was frozen and seemed to be working. I put the replacement tranny in today along with new u-joints. The old tranny had several teeth broken on one of the gears. I am suprised I was able to drive it at all. I also replaced the defroster blower motor and the defroster vent flex tubes in the dash. Anyway, the 66 is on the road again. The new tranny works great. It is so refreshing to have a vehicle I can work on myself again. There is a lot to be said for the simplicity of our trucks.

Re: 66 rolling again
That what I like about these trucks, they are simple. I have put a lot of modern upgrades into my 66, but I am still keeping it simple.
