Dynamat Question

I was wondering if the acoustishield product from "Quiet Ride Solutions" (featured in the classic truck magazine this month) is worth the money. It's pre-cut for our year trucks. It costs around $340.00 for the complete kit. (firewall, floor, doors, and roof)

I just don't know how hard it is to cut it myself and as I've stated in other posts I'm not mechanically inclined when it comes to trucks. I've also read up on the product and it seems like it's very good. Any other suggestions on competitors or what has everyone else here used?

I'm just trying to surmise if the $340 for the whole pre-cut kit is worth the money.

I have just started doing mine over the weekend, I orderd 100'sf of B-Quiet sound deadening shipped to the house for $130.00. It was very easy to work with and stiks very good. For what you see in the pic it took me about 3 hours. But I would do it agian if I had to.

I used Dynamat Xtreme in mine and it is freakin awesome. It worked so well it blew my mind. I plan on putting another layer in it and try to seal it up for good. It works great. I used A/C style aluminum tape to tape up the seams in it.

does the dynamat extreme work good as a insulater???? i am in the process of doing my interior & am wondering what a really good insulator would be. i live in az & really am looking for a heat deturrent

It truly does work good. I took Napa wax and grease remover and cleaned the crap out of the metal before applying it. I also vaccumed, blem out the flew and shop vaced in out again. It has stuck and works great.

i have heard of guys dynamating then using like hot water heater insulating jackets on the floor and under the headliner to kill any noise. Its hard to get the carpet and headliner in after but no road noise????

I used a product called fatmat on my 86 k5 and it is freaking amazing how quiet it is (combined with new carpet, with the good backing on it). I too bought 100 sq. ft. and did eveything with a lil to spare, i picked it up on eBay for aound a bill.

Not to threadjack, but is there carpeting with bad backing on it? Just wondering cause I plan on getting new carpet in this fall. Thanks.

I have not heard of that. M&M the people who are doing my carpet in a few months use a semi-hard foam and glue it to the dynamat to provide padding but it helps too.

While I was looking for carpet I noticed that some of the foam on the back was very thin, and didn't look like it was as good of quality. However the carpet that I bought had a very dense looking foam. I am really happy with the whole setup, but now I realize just how many air leaks I have!

im plannin on doin my 87 in either dynamat or brown bread. the only thing im worried about is the tear down and re assembly of my interior. i dont want to mess up my carpet or doorpanels. the headliner needs to be redone so im not worried about that. the origional interior in the truck is mint so i dont want to destroy it

More info-I have heard that there is a tar odor from some of the roofing material. I can't verify that though. Here are a few threads that I have saved pertaining to sound deadening materials.

Thanks N2TRUX I was thinking I would still go with the QuietRide Solutions but knowing I can buy it in sheets and save a few bills I'll probably buy it that way.

Will a 100 sqft. cover the cab of a regular truck? I honestly have not taken measurements or anything yet.

130 sqft did my Blazer, I would say 50-60 sqft would do it all. I got mine in rolls and it worked very good for what I used it for. What size sheets are you getting? The only bad thing about sheets is that you are only doing small parts at a time. When it's on rolls you could roll out 2-3 feet at a time. Good luck with it.

I'll probably buy 2 rolls of the Quietride Extreme (might as well buy their best) since it comes in 50 sqft rolls. I'd rather have extra than not enough.

It takes 2 boxes of Dynamat Extreme to do 1 truck.
I bought one box and it did my floorboard, rear of the cab, kickpanels and firewall.
