What year did the stepside fuel Door start?

I just finished putting the bed on my truck, so it is finally complete! It is a 71 truck but I put a 73-87 bed on it. Some people don't like it, but I think it looks great. To me the 73-87 Stepside beds are the best of all the years and I just sold my 73 Stepside so I gues sI was missing it, not to mention my existing bed was trashed and I got this new bed for $250, so it kinda came to me. Enough excuses, here are some pics.

I was wondering what year range bed this might be though since it has the fuel door?

This first one was taken at MIDNIGHT in black night

The money shot:

Please excuse the pole

A couple more...

What's that chrome thing next to your license plate? Also, did you just screw your plate into the metal underneath the tailgate? I need to get rid of my nasty bumper on my 78 stepside, and I like it like yours better than a roll pan.

that chrome thing is a license plate light, it is bright enough but I am thinking about getting another for the other side so it looks better. Yeah, I just drilled holes and screwed that sucker in there! I like the way it looks too, I like the roll pan on the front, but not on the back for some reason. I will be getting a framerail trailer hitch to act as my only bumper soon...

My last stepside was a '79 now that I think of it and it had the door... I know that truck was stock too... I like the sound of '79 better than '80 also. I'm callin it a '79 then! Check this beast out, talk about saved from the dead! This was my last truck, wish I still had it too. I love the 73-74 grills.
