console restoration question...

Hey I have a console for my 72 blazer and im looking to restore it and make it all purty again. It is the off-white parchment color. How do I repaint that hard plastic, and what is the best paint to use to match the factory color? I bought a can of that stuff LMC sells (color-bond) suposedly the right color for the year and it doesnt seem to work very well. ANy other ideas? or do I have the right stuff and im just not using it right? any help would be much appreciated...k thanks!

Re: console restoration question...

Strip the paint to bare and scuff it lightly.Automotive paint suppiers can custom mix the correct color if you take a sample piece of interior.Make sure it`s clean.Tell them what you are painting so there formulate it for that. There are bonding promoters that they will probably sell.My PPG supplier sells "Bulldog".

Thumbs up Re: console restoration question...

Just wanted to say that your photo site is awesome! The AC rebuild is especially helpful to me and I'll be revisiting it often as I rebuild mine in my 67 C20.

Re: console restoration question...

scrub it real good with soap and warm water. rinse it off real good to make sure all the soap is gone. when it dries spray it with SEM plastic and vinyl die. you can get it at any paint shop. thats what i used and it looks excellent.

Re: console restoration question...

Biggest problem you will have is color match--that off white does not hold up well on our trucks--you see visors, consoles, door panels on the same vehicle with different shades over time. Good luck--Huck
