2 questions

(1) What kind of spark plugs are you guys running? I just ran through a set of AC Delco's in about 4 mons...they burned right up so I put a hotter AC plug in and we will see how long they last. I am running a Mallory Ignition.
(2) This concerns sway bars; do they make them for the rear of a long bed (stock height) w/ the coil spring setup? I have access to a front sway bar so I am planning on putting this on. In your opinion will it be overkill to put both a front and rear sway bar on or will the front be enough? I have a lot of roll in my truck right now.

not sure about the first one. but for the second one, you can only benefit from having a sway bar on the front and the rear. you will definitely benefit from adding a front one, if you don't have one already. i plan on adding one to the rear of mine.

I've always ran delco r45 plugs in my sb chevys. Never had an issue. And my current truck has an after market 40,000 volt coil.
If you burnt a set up, I don't know that going to a hotter set is the solution. I'd think you'd need to go the other way. But I bet there is another issue, maybe a lean issue that's causing the plugs to burn.

As far as the sway bar, for me, the less sway the better. When I do the suspension upgrades on mine, I'm going to put a roll eliminator on mine. Much like a sway bar, but it has no give what so ever. o yeah, my adevice would be to run one if ya want. It should help. Having one on the front is almost mandatory.

I have an 80,000 volt coil...so now this makes me wander what these plugs will do. At any rate, I will keep an eye on things and let everyone know the outcome, then we'll know for sure!

what are you gapping plugs at and what does mallory reccomend gapping your plugs at

rear sway bars will fit long or short beds the same no real difference//i used a helwig that clamped on the trailing arms worked real good with stock height and also later when i lowered the truck too

It's older...the gentleman that I bout the truck from had it put in when the 350 was built in 2000 and told me it was 80k volts. Sounds like A LOT to me, too. I had a hell of a time finding a new cap and rotor b/c it didnt even have a model # on it.

I gapped my plugs at .40. This was the recomendation of Advanced Auto Parts where I spend all of my money. They all came out of the box at .35.

What do you think?

I believe if you run a hotter spark (coil), you should run a slightly colder plug than with a stock ignition, also, a wider gap should be used. Someone jump in and correct me if i am wrong, but I think I read this somewhere.

R44TS in my 350, running an ACCEL HEI distributor and the coil that was recommended (in the cap). Haven't had to replace a plug in at least three years.

a/c is best plug for gm products, my opinion, if you are going through plugs , dont blame it on type or brand, maybe the excessive voltage is an issue, is there any voltage being wasted ? how much do you really need, whats your engine needs? does it have radical cam, high compression, whats the timing? etc etc...

I'm going to chime in on the spark plug question...........................
I've heard the debate on spark plugs many times, and I've used about every plug on the market. In my experience, Autolite plugs have been the best by far. I've had bad luck with NGKs failing in a very short time, and the ACs didn't seem to last very long either. I'm currrently running Autolite 25s in my 350, gapped at .045 with a complete MSD ignition system. Runs awesome.

The amount of available voltage doesn,t cause plugs to burn up. Too hot of heat range or lean mixtures or incorrect timeing will.

Sorry to say this, but I wouldn't trust the guys at those places to tell me what kind of oil filter my truck takes. There are some that know what they're doing, but getting one of those to wait on you is a shot in the dark. There's a pretty simple rule when gapping plugs, the hotter the ignition, the wider the gap, if you have it gapped too narrow, the big flame will scorch electrodes. The LT1 Camaros with the Opti-Spark distributor kicked out major voltage and they also used platinum plugs and a wider gap. Gap yours out to .050-.055 and see how they last for you then.

I went down to the local pick'n'pull and took a front sway bar out of a 1 ton dually, 79 I believe. It's 1.25" and my shortbed rolls very little in corners I'm very satisfied. I don't have a rear sway bar, that might induce oversteer in wet/hard cornering so I did not even try to locate one

I have an acdelco hei dizzy with a blaster coil and i run bousch platnum 4s...i dont havthey ae a problem at all with them...the only thing to take into consideration with them tho is if you have aluminum pistons dont run them cause they can nuke a set of pistons in no time if aluminum cause of how hot they burn..as for the sway bar youll definetly like the front if you aint got one..i have both front and rear stock and they make a world of diffrence in handling exspecially if you use your truck to tow anything...but either way you cant go wrong with to much when it comes to sway bars
