Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

Personally, I'd go with a grant wheel. I just installed one on my 87. It's much thicker than the stock wheel, so it feels better, looks cool, and installed easily. Grant makes an easy installation kit for these trucks. Grant number 3196. Pick a Grant wheel you like, and get the 3196 installation kit. These are available at your local parts stores.

Any GM wheel will bolt on your column,... as long as you stay pre-95. The 95-up wheels were usually "air bag" steering wheels. Vega GT wheels were also a favorite of mine. I like the '70 Chevelle 3-spoke cushion grip wheel. They are also available as a reproduction wheel,... so you don't pay for a junky used one.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

Believe it or not, Chevettes had a nice looking steering wheel. I have one in my '37.

My C10 has an '88 and up pickup wheel.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

If ya like the the wheels in 88-91 (I think) blazers, they are different and bolt right up..... otherwise I like grant, I've had two of them.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

Here's mine, it's a Grant Classic wheel and I love it! The blue on the horn cap is darker than the picture shows, the flash really lightened it up. It's actually the same color as my truck.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

I don't have a picture of mine, but I have a late 70's early 80's camaro wheel on my truck, it is much smaller diameter than the stcok truck one, and is thicker too.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

I like these from 88-94 chevrolet trucks. I think they look clean and stock in 73-87's. They're only a little bit smaller in diameter. Got one off a board member here for $30 and didn't need any adapters and the horn worked perfectly as a bonus.

Re: I need schooled on steering wheels

I got the same wheel yesterday at the local Upullandpay junkyard for $8. Mine says Chevolet on the horn button though.
