Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
Personally I think they are ugly. I have seen them in 57's and they just don't go. They also remind me of when digital came out in the 70's with watches. I didn't really like those either.
I dought they are any harder then hooking up regular gauges. Just senders and wires..

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
I don't like them either, mainly because of the blue lights.
I'm going to go with some Cyberdyne digital gauges with Amber lights. |

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
I went from these Autometer gauges to this factory gauge cluster with a factory tach in my '66 Chevy C10 swb fleetside Custom cab. I prefer the factory available equipment over aftermarket. Not a popular choice these days, but I like to preserve the integrity of the vintage factory OEM equipment.

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
I prefer factory as well. It would be interesting to install newer gauges behind the oil pressure, water temp and batt gauges on my original dash, but noone makes square or rectangular aftermarket gauges.
On my other car, a 71 Buick Riviera, it is all idiot lights so I installed amber Cyberdynes on the bottom of the dash. They are just as easy to hook up as an electrical gauge. I also like them because you can set them to flash at a certain temp or pressure. That way you have both an idiot light and an accurate gauge in one. |

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
Man, are gauges ever a polarizing subject! Like some of the earlier posters, I think the DD stuff looks like crap, although I am impressed with their electronics. I'd like to find gauge faces that are a very close match to my original GMC gauges. At least on the GMC, you're only dealing with round gauges (no horizontal speedo).
Here's a picture of the 64-66 Chevy set (yuck). Won't fit my GMC anyway. For you guys looking for a more "truck" or industrial look, you might like Datcon (datcon.com). This is what I have in my 77 and they seem really well built. Plus, how often do you find tachs with an hourmeter?

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
I installed a Dakota Digital universal panel in a '66 GMC for a guy about 10 years ago. I didn't think it was hard at all....the instructions were easy to follow. I would say it depends on your electrical skills.
I'll go along with the minority here....I like the Dakota Digital's myself....but I don't dislike the original's or the aftermarket analog's either.

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
They used to...that one I installed was in red. I don't think they make them in red anymore.

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
I still prefer the stock gauges! lol I just wish the tach went a little higher. I have a few of those I cant even use sense my motor spends higher than that. Would be willing to trade those for some parts I may need.

Re: any one runing dakota digital gauges
Auto meter makes some. They are red and look like gauges. http://www.autometer.com/search_resu...lite%20digital You could look around the site more to see what they have. The only thing I don't see much of are speedo's and Tach's. Except here.. http://www.autometer.com/search_resu...comp%20digital
