GMC 67-68 Hood Questions

You guys are a bad influence on me. The 67-68 hood look is getting to me. So, I need some info. I ran a search and found most of the info scattered among many differant posts and mixed in with Chevy info. I am trying to pull just the GMC info all together. My goal is 67 hood with my 70 grill. My truck is a 70 , so my fenders are good to go.

I have found a so-so 67 Chevy C30 junk yard truck with all the parts including a hood with dent in the middle. The hood may be too far gone as I think the at least one bolt hole is messed up. The fenders,inner/outer, left & right, are a mess too, so a whole clip is not really a good deal here.

My main concern is what parts do I need to get? Other than the hood of course.

1.Do I need the grill 67 top bar or not? YES

2. Eliminate the eyebrows??? YES

3. Do I need the 67 rad suport at all? NO

4. I believe I will need the 67 hood latch. YES

5. 67 grill suport? What is that?

6. What am I missing?

7. And can I go back easily if I need to?

Re: GMC 67-68 Hood Questions

your grill assembly is the same as a 68, and only differs from a 67 by missing the GMC insignia in the center.
i think you'll need the hood, and the latch assembly, and top bar from a 67/68. Then remove your eyebrows and top bar (67/68 top bar replaces obviously) and toss the latch in there and the new hood.

Re: GMC 67-68 Hood Questions

Thanks Longhorn Man, that answers the first 4 questions.

Is the "grill support" the piece under the hood latch between the grill and the rad suport? One of the 30 odd threads I read last night thought this would be needed.
