best way to bag my 65

not very familiar with the bagging system only seen it on shows and otehr trucks and cars, i was thinkin of doin it to my 65 c-10, but how low could i go with out the c notch in the frame, and where can i get the best deal on them at and who are some of the top names so i can shop, and also pics would be nice to see of the process

***************** for front plates/cups and bags. Also check out Mr.Shelly's thread in the FAQ for pics on the install. You can bag your truck on the cheap this way(~$500) without spending all the dough on a "kit".

well could i get a total list of what i need for that 500 dollar one cause i have that now, i was planning to paint the body and then over the summer i was gonna bag it,

but i m still trying to get it asap,

also my biggest question is how low can i go with out putting in a c notch in the frame, i dont need the best of everything

Slam Specialties RE200 bags 7"- $75ea x4 = $300
***************** front cups/plates = $60
Firestone air line service kit- $30ea x2 = $60
1/2npt to 1/4npt reducers- $2ea x2 = $5
Miscellaneous grade 8 fasteners ~$20

That's about $450 and will pretty much equal a 3"/5" drop at ride height. I would also recommend shock relocators and new shocks as well as an adjustable panhard bar while you're doing it. The relocators are $60 from either ECE or CPP. Shocks- everyone uses the cheap Monroe Sensa-Tracs.

For a little more dough, you can go quite a bit lower.

2.5" Drop Spindles = $250
2" lowering blocks = $75
CPP bolt-in notch = $100

Its more than a 3/5 drop on the 65's and 66's... My back bumper I believe sat about 4 inches off the ground w/ no notch but some firestone 2600's in the back in stock location. I think that's more than a 3/5 drop but sadly I didn't measure beforehand. Lemme know if u want pics of the height or anything, I've got a few from before I notched mine.

With the ease of these c-notches on c-channel frames I dont see why anyone would want to have the axle tag the frame on occasion instead of making the proper clearances. Yes I know bumpstops are there to quieten the blow but how many times do you want to hit that knowing how hard it hits.

Im just the kind that looks under these trucks or cars lowered and want to make sure I have enough clearances everywhere and a c-notch isnt going to make me blink twice.

I totally agree, mine was bottoming out all the time with that setup, but it was temporary until I stopped daily driving the truck and could take the time to do the backhalf on it, which ended up all through highschool. I agree, but it works for what its there for, and something has to bottom out first, so might as well let it be the bumpstop, will hurt the least.

I hear alot of questions either here or on other boards about lowering trucks and the question always comes up "Do you have to notch the frame on a 6" rear drop??" Or 5" rear drop and so on.

I did my 2-4 drop on my Ram when only one kit was available and the same nite I finished the drop I looked underneath at ride height and told myself theres no way I am ever going to be happy with that much room between the axle and bumpstop with our crappy roads. The very next day i was c-notching the frame and never once looked back as that being a bad decision.i did the notch on that frame before a kit was out because those frames are hydro formed 360 degree boxed frames and universal ones werent out...........and those frames are way way toughter to c-notch than a c-channel frame.

I also have a bad back as of 3 years ago and I have driven some very harsh drops in my time(customers and friends) and will not ever have a dropped car or truck of mine ever have a rough ride like those did.

My axle in my s-10 sat about a 1/2" from the frame for a bout a month... What a PITA. It seems every 2 seconds it would be bouncin off of it.. Also my buddies truck frame cracked in a spot. We dotn know if it was from bottoming out or not but I am sure if was def. a good factor in it.

But having it sitting on the frame w/ bags at full drop means its a good 4 inches atleast when lifted. I agree w/ you both about the notch and it would be a much better idea, but for a temporary fix it works good, I rarely bottomed mine out w/ it that way, just throw a lil pressure in the bags and go.

yea left coast that woyld be great for some pics, i realize it would be better to notch the frame but im on a tight schedule with alot of other work to do, but yea those pictures would be awsome to make my decision

The front end is lowered to the ground but the back was sitting on factory bumpstops. On a tight time schedule it works good until you can get in there and finish it all up. It also sits very level with nothing done to the front except bag cups and the bags put in there. Here's a pic, sorry its huge...

HAHA, know how that goes, I jsut dumped it infront of the axle until I find a permanent fix for the back end, it works well, i'd suggest it.

Chris, is that a good choice vs. the very expensive adjustable shocks? I am running the old shocks that came with my 3/5 static spring drop from ECE. This is my first air ride truck and I have never ridden in another air ride truck [not very many up here in the mountains] so I don't have a reference point but I think the front of my truck rides kinda rough unless I go down below 80 lbs in my 2600s. I would like to go with a different shock but wasn't too excited about spending $500 on adjustables.

Yep. You can even use the cheaper Monroe-Matics. That's what comes with all the ART kits- just with an ART sticker on them...

Good to know. When I ordered my ART stuff I deleted the shocks, now I can just get the same thing for 28 bucks, cool.
