Relocate or trim the neutral switch?
The swap from a 4spd to auto is done, however the auto column (van/non-tilt)has the safety switch /brake pedal arm clearance problem.
Anybody have a more detailed description of the fixes.....I already screwed up and trimmed too much off the side of one switch after misreading an old post. thanks in advance, swdobbs...... |

I'VE DONE THEM BOTH WAYS. YOU CAN RELOCATE IT LOWER ON THE SHAFT, WITCH IS JUST A MATTER OF A LITTLE DRILLING & GRINDING WITH A DIE GRINDER OR DREMMEL TOOL. OR YOU CAN JUST JUMP THE SWITCH ENTIRELY (THATS WHAT I'VE DONE ON MY TRUCKS) BY MAKING A JUMPER, AND BYPASSING THE PURPLE WIRE. JOHN

I did away with mine too...none of my trucks ever had a safety switch before, nor back up lights.
I'll probably address the problem at a later date...actually, i probably won't, but I like to think I will. |

What problem...I have a van tilt auto column that I would like to use the switch on...will it interfere with my brake pedal? I haven't installed the column yet.

Yes, the switch will be in the way when you go to bolt it up. You need to move it lower on the column. I'm thinking (which means rough guess looking at fuzzy memorys in my head) about 6 inches south oughta do it.
