What kind of timing should I use on my 350?
RV cam HEI ignition, I think before the engine was disassembled the timing was about 6 degrees BTDC

If there is any more info you need, just reply!

With an RV cam, it will probably be best pretty close to stock. Best thing is an educated guess, then a test and tune at the track, or back road with a stop watch. (or a G-tech if you have that kind of $$...those things are sweet)

I agree, you shouldnt be too far from stock setting with a mild cam. Ideally,if you set the timing where the eng starts & idles the best,you should be fine. To experiment with a timing light,you might try bumping about 2 degrees at a time & test run.......pull a few hills & listen for spark rattle. good luck..........69

For along time people have been talking about RV cams. They are very very close to stock and not as radical as most people make them out to be. Set the timing to stock. RV cams were popular back in the day, but with todays technology you can get a better cam. I have a XE 256 and my timing is back 6 degrees.
