Got a 53 & a S-10, now just need to do the "swap"
I picked up this 53 locally here last night for $440. She's a little on the rusty side, and has a Flintstones floor. But, it does have the most sought after option of all....a clear title.
I bought the 87 S-10 2WD for the frame, and the 84 4x4 for the rearend. Got them from the same guy, both for $600. I've had them sitting around waiting to find the AD. I probably won't start on this project until September at the earliest. I need to finish up the body/paint work on my 63 & 64 first. Plus this will give me more time to think about which S-10 swap kit to get; AD Engineering, ez chassis swap, or maybe Optikal's kit when he starts selling them. I kinda hate to cut up the 2WD. I drove it home (about 7 miles) and it runs/drives great. Pretty nice little truck. I may look around for another 2WD and keep this one for farm use. Right now I use a Harley Davidson golf cart on my property to mend fences. But, maybe I'll use the 87 and sell the golf cart.

Looks like you made some good deals. Have a good time with the swap. And, that one S10 does look a little too good to pull apart.

Re: Got a 53 & a S-10, now just need to do the "swap"
I know, that's what I'm thinking. New battery, alternator, front brake pads. Plus, it's a 4 speed, and I was really looking for a 5 speed S-10 to kill two birds with one stone. I'd like to have a 5 speed (even though it won't be world-class in a S-10) to put into my 64 which is now late model carbed stock 350 with the '64's 3 on-the-tree. I may keep looking for another donor. Plus, now I have 9 pickups (my wife keeps track) and I hate odd numbers.....yup 10 sounds 'bout right.

That's this summer's project. I bought it just like it is, real solid and rebuilt 289 in it. It's all complete. Hopefully, depending on the economy, it'll be a 15k car when finished.
