Rear Fuel Tank
I want to install one. Any suggestions on manufacturers? I have seen a couple, but wondering if anyone has opinions. Thanks!

In order of price (I believe) for new tanks the options are: stainless steel, aluminum, steel, plastic.

On the '67 Chassis I built for Rich, he went with a nice aluminum one from Brother....it is pricey though, but it's a nice piece.....Around $450-500 I think...

That is the tank I use, and I love it... a very easy installation, perfect fit. Well worth it when you consider the grief and delay in screwing around with some half-baked product that is just not the right thing. I believe these are made by NoLimit and available from them or Brothers or Perf. Online (and maybe elsewhere too.) I dropped mine and converted it to efi last summer with no problems, but you can order efi version too.

I definitely like aluminum, problem is finding one for a 62 pickup... plenty 64-66 tanks pre-made.

you can always contact fuelcellguy. I don`t know if he`s still around but he use to be over on the 67-72 board. Alot of guys there have used his tanks.

Thanks everyone for their input! That other thread didn't come up in my search.
Funny thing... I don't have a fuel gauge at the moment and been trying to figure out when my tank was going to run out so I could replace it... lol.. well it did it last night..lmao! oh well, luckily I carry 5 gal with me just in case..lol..  How do you measure how deep the tank can be. I mean, how do you know? I see most are sloped... so how do you figure how deep in front or back? Frame rail width is easy, and it looks like it can even go a bit above the frame rail without a problem.. maybe an inch or so? Steven

i am definitely interested but i had a question about the fuel guage and sending unit. with a custom built tank which sending unit do you use? do you use the standard one for the relocation kit? will it be acurate? can you adjust it? i guess thats 3 questions!

For the tank that i'm having built by Boyds welding I am using the $30 sending unit from Brothers. It's a 1.5" opening and you can adjust the depth to your needs (just make sure that you have the right OHMs for your gauge). Dave Boyd knows a lot of specs on tanks so feel free to make some measurements and get a quote. I made just low enough to hide behind my hitch and then slope down a little to get the fuel forward to drain. Mine can't go above the frame rails due to the bed crossmembers on top of it.
PS. the no limit tanks are .090 and Boyds are .125 thick...
