Somebody please help me decide!
So I have decided to lower my truck 4/6. After doing a lot of researching and searching for the right parts, I decided that I will be using 2.5" drop spindles, 1.5" drop springs for the front and 4" drop leaves with a 2" shackle/hanger out back, all from western chassis. I decided this knowing I could only seem to find drop leaves from two places, western chassis and performanceonline.com. Today I was on brotherstrucks.com was looking thru their suspension section and found two different types of drop leaves for my truck. one is the regular multi-leaf pack drop leaf and the other is a mono-leaf type. My first question is which multi-leaf pack do you think would be better? And then, what would be the pros and cons of the mono-leaf set up. It claims to meet or exceed multi-leaf specs. I assume they are talking about spring rate? It also has "fixed end" bushings. Please lmk what you think, thanks DOOCE

Any certain reason you want new springs? A flip kit is much cheaper.

Re: Somebody please help me decide!
Mono leaf is just one big leaf!! Weigh capacity is really minimized. Go for the multileaf springs. The leafs are arched to achieve height and weight carrying retention.
I have a set of lowered leafs. Four leafs per side. Install coming soon. My truck is 4/6 with 2.5 spindal & 1.5 coils. Hanger and shackel combo on the rear. 255/60/R15 tires. Measuring from the ground to the center of wheel well, 27.5-28" on three corners. One corner is nearly 29". It drives me nuts. Measure first, then decide which drop you want and how to achieve it. I want one more 1" all the way around!! Last edited by gchemist; 06-15-2008 at 07:45 PM. |

Re: Somebody please help me decide!
The PO removed a leaf or two out of the original pack to level the truck out. So If i just installed a flip kit, it would be much lower than I want the rear to be. I could go to the junk yard, buy a set of used springs and then install a flip kit, but I would rather not. New leaves seems like the better option for what I plan to do with the truck. That and I have really been a big fan of the flip kits.
