Pulled engine on the donor. It's Dead :(

Well, we made some more progress on my continuing Cab Swap project.

Saturday we pulled the engine and transmission. The tranny seems to be in good shape, however, the engine is toast! Here are the pics. I'll let y'all tell me why you think the engine is bad. It won't be hard.

With Engine...

Without Engine...

Engine on stand...

Bad Engine...

Also, the cab is loose and ready to be lifted onto the trailer and moved home.

Don't forget to unbolt the steering linkage/column before attempting to remove the cab.

Maaan, looks like you are having a ball...wish I had a clean parts truck to take apart and have fun with.

...I really need to finish my truck!! (so I can buy another!)

Dave, well, it did get quite a bit of water into it! That was of course after it died. You should see the cam. Split that sucker in half practically. Plus, when we took the oil pan off, bearing pieces were dropping out everywhere. Not good. The bad cylinder has a nice big gouge taken out of it. What a shame!

Jeff, I removed the steering box after I took those pictures. So, that's not a problem I'll remove some of the other crap once I get the cab home.

Hmm. hmm. poor engine. Someone of thing killed it.

This just looks like so much fun it makes me want to go out and take mine apart. NOT. But it does look like fun though.

Mike, I GUARANTEE you will have yours apart like that and like mine someday...your undercarraige will start bugging you since it won't look as good as the rest of the truck. I swore up and down I would never do this...but it has been worth every penny!

Scott- Man that sucks. Are the heads any good? Also if no one has dibbs on the carb I'd like to take it and practice on rebuilding it

Yes, this is fun! I can safely say I've never taken one down like this. Although I won't be going to the extent Jeff did!! I'm just swapping the cabs and front end.

Brandon, the heads seem to be good and Steve is going to keep both them and the carb. I was also thinking of grabbing the carb, rebuilding it, and replacing my holley gas guzzler. Oh well.
