454ss wheels

Has anyone seen 454ss or sport wheels on a squarebody? I got a chance to buy a set but I'm not sure they would look right on my truck.

Re: 454ss wheels

I can't decide if they are $350 better than the rally's. I'm trying to make peace with the rally's convincing myself I like them. Plus the Qjet on my truck acts up in really hot Alabama weather, so I am thinking about replacing it with something different. Can't afford wheels and carb and I'm trying to decide which is a priority.

I'd fix the carb problems, your truck looks great as is.

Re: 454ss wheels

I used to run them on my old 85 lowered long bed they looked good from the side but they have to much offset so they are tucked into the wheel whells to much , also the center caps are held on with the wheel nuts and they are metric thread so you have to change all your wheel studs.

Re: 454ss wheels

i think the lugs from an Safari van will work. i saw the lugs and center caps on ebay. I also believe you will need to get a shorter dust cap for the front wheels too. if i'm wrong someone please chime in. i'm in the process of install 98 model rallys on my 81

Re: 454ss wheels

Definitely the carb... and I would stick with Rallys over the SS wheels for our era of trucks. Truck looks great as it sits...

Re: 454ss wheels

Thanks for the compliments and advice. Sounds like the centercap issue would be a pain and I sure don't want the wheels tucked in any farther. I picked up a tip from this site about the rally centercaps being chrome under the paint. I still need to knock the paint off the drivers side. Now I have to decide what carb to get.
