gas gage woes
i rewired a '52 panel wagon and it has repro gages, the gas gage won't work. The sending unit in the tank is a modern sender, is the new resistor compatable with the early gage If not is there a fix. Appreciate any help, thanks oj

Re: gas gage woes
Ok you are dealing with two problems
One the early guage is 6 volt you need a resistor in the positive lwire to guage to drop your voltage from 12 volts Second is check out the ohm reading on the sender most modern guages have a different ohm Value so what I did (on 53 Chevy pickup with blazer gas tank) I was putting in a new tank so found a flat place on top of tank and took a hole saw and drilled a hole the size for the 53 guage and installed it I them used the origional Blazer pickup tube to get gas and hooked guage wire to 53 sender and it works Gene Sharp Last edited by Gene Sharp; 08-31-2008 at 05:22 PM. |

Re: gas gage woes
Thanks Gene, never even thought about the 12v to 6v thing. Will ponder on this a bit.
