K20, tell me this is a good deal
i have to oppourtunity to buy this truck (without the flat bed or wheels and tires) from a friend of mine. It has all of the usual options, 4 speed, basic Custom 20. It is a 1971, but has the 70 grille. It has a little rust under the battery, but other than that it is in great shape. Tell me this is under the money at $1500
thanks David

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
Figure wheels and tires are gonna cost you at least 800.00. And a descent bed around 500.00. That puts you around 2800.00.
How do you feel now? Looks clean and straight though. What engine? A.......

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
Not bad but what is he replacing the wheels with? I think it will cost more than $500 to find a good bed and tailgate...
Offer him $2500 as it is and see what he thinks...

I'd go for it. Still can't beat a truck in that good of shape for the money.

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
i guess i should fill in the blanks, It has a 350 with power options, no ac, he is putting the regular steel wheels and cross tread tires that aren't too bad back on it. I am a welding teacher by trade, so i figured i would just build another stinger bed for it (which i should be able to build for about 1000 in metal and 500 for the hydralics)
am i too far off?? David

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
Might be a good deal- if there isn't mechanical reasons why he wants to get rid of it. I'm guessing if you bought it, it would get another flatbed? If so, and the bed it has suits you, I'd offer him every bit of what it is worth with the bed so you don't have to hassle with it, & he can go buy another one.
As for the wheels, I don't like them on the old rigs anyway. I'd put a set of '88- '98 wheels with rings & caps on it. Cheap & easy to find.

I would buy! As a matter of fact, if you don't take it, let me know.

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
Well, I paided $1000 for this:
(mind you it has 4:56 Gears Detroit Lockers front and rear Newish 4" lift....) That for $1500 sans bed would be a steal. Last edited by Shaffer4; 10-11-2008 at 04:44 PM. |

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
Id buy it, A set of ralley wheels with tires you can pick up at decent price. Beds aren't that rare. Keep an eye on Craigslist.

Re: K20, tell me this is a good deal
If it really is that rust free, then yes, I agree it is a good price. Plus now you have a good excuse to spend some quality time with it building a custom bed!
