86 1/2 ton 2x2 front end 5 to 8 bolt conversion
Can I change my 86 1/2 2X2 front hubs and brakes to an eight bolt?
I put an eight bolt 3/4 ton axle and One ton springs on the back and It has an eight bolt axle on the back now. The truck is in beutiful shape and I want the front and back to match bolt paterns so that it looks better and so I can rotate tires. ------------------ Mr. Fischer

what is a 2x2 ????
to go form 4x2 1/2 to 3/4 ton and do it the cheap way you will need these parts off a 73-87 3/4 ton: lower A arms, all 4 balljoints, spindles, rotors, calipers, brake hoses, wheels, basically not much of anything is same between 1/2 and 3/4, 3/4 is alot bigger and larger parts. spindle castings are not same at all. you can simply swap 3/4 ton rotors and calipers onto 1/2 ton spindles, it doesnt work that way. the main crossmember itself, and centerlink, idler arm, pitman arm, and steering box are the same between the two series trucks, however. good luck ------------------ Randy- Lincoln IL r68c30@hotmail.com ------------- Fleet, currently: -77 Buick Electra 403 -72 K-5 Blazer 4x4 chassis, -76 GMC Sierra Classic, 350ci/TH350, 3.40 gears, -68 C-30 dually dump bed -68 Panel Delivery(Many thanks to Shanet) ------------------ '68's forever!!!! http://communities.msn.com/RandyR72K5 ----------------- Lots of 67-72 pics: http://communities.msn.com/ChevyTrucksforever/home.htm Why America rules, and why Bin Laden doesnt like it: http://www.dictionary.com/cgi-bin/dict.pl?term=liberty |
