Firebird Raceway Phoenix (NHRA), anyone going?
Anyone going to the drags this weekend out at Firebird Raceway?
I got some free Ford VIP tickets from my brother in law. So Ill be sitting near the starting line in the half way decent stands. I havent been since 2001, I think. I love the drags. Man do those things suprise me everytime. I can not believe the power and speed of those cars. If you have never been to a funny car or top fuel drag race, you need to get off your @$$ and go! Anyone gonna be out there on Saturday, thats when my tickets are good?

I haven't been to a drag race of any kind in many, many, years. The last one I went to was Rockingham, NC. It was an IHRA event, but still plenty of top fuel and funnys, along with about 9 million stock and super stock. This is the only big drag event I've ever went to, and will be the last. I made the mistake and went on Saturday. This is the elimination round and bores you senseless. If I were to ever go again, it would be on Sunday for the finals. I got the worst headache I have ever had. Being in the pits, drinking, sun, and noise killed me. Before I forget, drinking always did give me a headache. Best thing I ever did was to stop doing it.
I used to go to a small strip that my Dad was the announcer at, when I was a kid. Then it was dirt. Yeah, dirt. Cars had to run bigass snow tires for traction. It was wild. It is still in operation, but paved now of course. Haven't been in a very long time. My older brother had a 55 Chevy with a 292 straight six and would ream the 283 Chevy's a new one. It would really piss them off to see they got beat by a six cylinder, not knowing it was a 292 of course. Sorry for getting of track there for a moment.

We've got the Midnight Drags here in Tulsa. Saturday nights after midnight you pay to get in, run whatcha brung. I haven't been in years, it used to be fun. My parents told me that at the same strip (Tulsa Speedway) they raced Corvettes when I was a baby, I slept up in the announcer's tower as they raced.

I wish I could go but its a little far. I go to Memphis every year and like you I'm amazed each time I go. I really like the Friday night qualifying the flames look cool.

Greg, they have races out at firebird every weekend (I think they still do), race what you brung. I havent been, but some guys I used to know, would go and had a blast.
Razor: Fridays and Saturdays at the end of the day, they will break out something to shoot flames. Im pretty sure on Saturday they will race a couple rocket cars after the sun goes down. Man do those things produce some heat

How many are you looking for. My dad has full custody of the remaining tickets at this time. If he still has them I could probly get you a couple. How many are you interested in? I know he owes alot of them to people, so Ill have to call and see whats up.
