shaving hood side emblems
there is a support for the hood brace under the "3100 " emblem. how do you address that?

Re: shaving hood side emblems
If you are shaving the emblem then cut a small piece of metal that will cover the entire indention of where the emblem is and weld it to the hood! Simple really.

Re: shaving hood side emblems
mine had some metal behind that emblem between the hood and the emblem and it was riveted and looked like it was going to be a general pain in the butt to get off so I just welded it in solid, drilled the rivets out and welded all the holes up.

Re: shaving hood side emblems
I always cut out whatever indention im shaving and make flush filler and leave a 1/16th gap around perimeter for weld to fill then metal finish on outside and inside if inside shows........

Re: shaving hood side emblems
mine has the same, the rivet actually helps hold the hood brace in place, the rivet sticks out past the hood line. welding it ould work. also the emblem has 2 nuts on it that also help attach the brace to the hood panel.

I didn't do it right on the first hood I had on the truck and the lines around the groove that the metal bar lays in showed up in the paint after a few months. |

Re: shaving hood side emblems
I dont think I'll get ghost lines, I just welded everything up really well. The metal brace in there when welded ended up being flush with the outer skin so thats why I did it like that.
