Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Check out this sweet ’74 Dodge that is on Ebay right now. Factory big block 440, A/C, divorced 205 and not a speck of rust anywhere. Truck is in Vegas. I would love to have this thing! Not sure what I would do with it but it would look cool sitting in a yard full of GM’s.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
This is my buddy's willys. It's a 61 or 63, can't remember. It's got a Vortec 350 out of a 2000 Chevy truck, 4" Jeep TJ lift all coil spring suspension, auto w/ overdrive. This is right after he finished it about 5 years ago. It stays inside, and still looks just like this, the tires are just worn down now! Other than the paint, he did all the work himself in a 2 car garage in a subdivision. This includes fabbing both bumpers, and the rear tire carrier/swing. He's imported from California, and it's hard to see, but that's an In-n-Out Burger license plate holder. In-n-out Burger has only been in Texas now for about a year.

My dad's '66 Wagoneer on the day he bought it, and later doing some backcountry exploration.
![]() ![]() My dad had another Wagoneer, a J10 and a J20 at different times. I've still got a very early grille, a straight fender and a full set of hubcaps for early Jeeps. I've also got pictures of the J20 somewhere.

How about living in a mountain village where every vehicle is some sort of Power Wagon. Sounds like a fairy tale

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Well, my bronco aint near as tough as yours, I bought it from an old guy when I was 16, he took pretty good care of it, it had the stock cb that plugs into the dash, white wagon wheels with 31x10.50's. stock 351 M, a nice ride. I took pretty good care of it, but I took it hunting, playing in the desert sand and mud here. I put 33X12.50 thornbirds on it when I was a senior, then when I graduated I drove it to college in Dillon MT. The summer between my freshman and sophmore year I put the 460 in. Nothing radical, stock 460, edebrock performer intake, cam, carb and timing set, thats about it, but what a HUGE difference from the old 351. What I liked is it dropped right in like it belonged there. I really started to play then, would try to climb anything I could find, any mudhole I came across I went through. It was my daily driver for 10 years, then I got my 69 together and started alternating between the 2. A few months ago I had tranny problems in the 69 so I was driving the bronco quite a bit. I was headed to my parents house to cut some wood and about 5 miles before there house I lost the rearend. Broke the pinion. So now it sits while I get a new ring and pinion for it. I think while I am at it I will rebuild the front end, its kinda sloppy, needs ball joints.
Anyway, sorry this is so long, and about a ford on a chevy site, but man I love that bronco. I got some pics that I will scan and post tonight.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
ok here are some pics, I could only find one of the thornbirds, when I first got them. Most of these are when I had the stupid BFG all terrains, NOT good tires.

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
here are some more Bald mountain west of Dillon Mt in the background on this one
Topless at the Red Horse Mine north of Fairfeild Idaho And stuck in a 200 yard long snow drift in the blacktail mountains south of Dillon MT I will try to find more with the thornbirds, these are all in photo albums somewhere in the house and garage. I got those BFG's cheep when I graduated college, money was tight and like I said the bronco was my daily driver. The funny thing is I got more miles out of the thornbirds than I did the BFG's ![]()

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
Both of your Broncos are nice. They make a super tough truck with big tires (especially being the only fullsize soid axles) and are proud and handsome when more mild. Very classy I think. Here's a couple more:

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I sure like the round headlight stle better in 78 than the 79 rect style, I used aftermarket HID's in mine but was still rect, nicer though.
One last pic, man I am missing it now, but wanted the GM back. ![]() |

A little while back I added another 4x4 to my motorpool.
It is a 1968 Baifield M274A5 Military Mule. Electric start, optional tire /extended fender package, with 4 wheel steering. |

Re: Vintage 4wd Pictures:Other Makes
I always figured, since way back, these Broncos would be destined for high collectibility. First of all, they look nice, strong and bold. But,the only made them two years, they are the first full size, the last of the solid axle, and the last of the Ford truck body design that ran from '67(in my mind). Some will say '73,but I don't see any big change there. In '80 Ford stepped into the modern age with styling. After all,it was the 80s!!!
![]() BTW,I always liked the 58-60s.
