Anyone used ECE 3/4 to 1/2 ton drop spindles? - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

hey folks, I'm in the process of my winter project and along the way I decided to ditch the hacked up coil springs and pony up for a set of drop spindles and a new set of springs.

Have any of you used the ECE 3/4 - 1/2 drop spindles and gone to 1/2 ton brakes? If so, did you have any complications with them? and problems or complaints? I trust ECE more than most companies... but a little research never hurt anything!

I'm interested in this also. I planned to convert my crew cab front suspension this way.
I think you will have to change to 1/2 ton calipers and rotors. Not sure if the rubber brake lines are the same or not.

Don't quote me and you'll want to verify with ECE but I think the only difference with the 3/4 to 1/2 ton spindles over the standard 1/2 ton ones is the ball joint and tie rod connections. I think the spindle is the same 1/2 ton one (and uses all the 1/2 ton brake parts) but they have been reamed to allow you to use the 3/4 ton ball joints and tie rods, which are bigger.

I agree with Chevy Mike, I would check with ECE as they will be able to give you a 100% yes or no.

They work great! All you do is take your spindle out of the truck and replace with the conversion spindle...They work with the 3/4 ton ball joints and allow you to go to a 5 on 5 bolt pattern and use the 1/2 ton stuff. You just need new backing plates and rotor assemblies. I would also recommend you rebuild the existing front suspension as well. You might as well as long as you are going this route. Anyway, no machining necessary...
