Ok guys. I have a one barrel carb complex here?????
I have no idea how I have missed this over the 5 yrs I've had this motor. I have never had an air cleaner on this carb. I went to put an air cleaner on it today and realized that there is nowhere to put a center stud for holding the air cleaner on. Everything I have for air cleaners requires a center stud to hold it down. It is not made for one. It appears that there are two holes on top, one on each side of barrel. I looked in my LMC book and online a little but I did not find any kind of adapter for this particular application. Can some help me? And give me some idea of what it is exactly it is that I need and where I can find it? Here's some pics of the carb.......

Those two highest threaded holes that you mentioned are where there should be a bracket to mount the air cleaner. It is #39 in this exploded view:

The carb is original to this engine so I think I'm going to keep it that way. Besides this engine with carb runs absolutely perfect. Like it had just come off the dealers lot.

If you know where I might be able to buy these prts new that would be a big help. I have had no luck finding the bracket.

The air cleaner I have presses down around the top rim of the carb, and lid bolts down to it. Not original, but it works. Not a very good pic, but you'll get the idea.

originalJD:
Glad to hear you found what you were after. That is similar to the original part required to secure the air cleaner to the carb, via the center with a piece of all-thread. |
